Currently composed of nine members, Straight No Chaser is an all-male a cappella band whose origin can be traced back to their college days. The then university students formed the boy band in 1996 and worked up a repertoire of traditional and modern pop tunes performed without instruments, only their voices. The band became a local celebrity in their college, and their notable performances helped them gain a fan base on campus. The ensemble's original line-up has been able to tour Midwest, release some albums, and compete nationally at Carnegie Hall. After graduation, the guys went on their separate ways and never thought of continuing the group. However, fate had a different plan for them when their 1998 performance of "The 12 Days of Christmas" went viral in 2006 after the original member Randy Stine uploaded it to YouTube.
After the Atlantic Records Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman saw the video and signed the group for a recording deal, Straight No Chaser was reborn .. and the rest is history. Fifteen years later, 8 studio albums, including 2 RIAA Gold Certified albums, and 2 million albums sold worldwide, Straight No Chaser remains one of the most famous a cappella groups in the country. The band has continually enjoyed touring the country every holiday season and has sold nearly 2 million concert tickets throughout its career.
The group is back on the road for their 25th Anniversary Celebration tour this year. You can catch these nine dapper vocalists on their first night at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre this December 10 Saturday.
