Peso Pluma is absolutely dominating the industry, to the point now where he is becoming a household name across the world. Born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, his stage name comes from the Spanish boxing category meaning “featherweight,” which he adopted after Marco Antonio Barrera, the Mexican boxer, said he resembled many typical featherweight boxers.
He came from a traditional non artistic family but, amazingly, taught himself how to play the guitar by watching online videos. He then took his thoughts from his diary and tuned them into relatable lyrics that would resonate with fans all around the world, which was a difficult thing to do as his peers would make fun of him for doing so. Dreaming of making it big in America, the artist struggled for two years, but just as he had the determination to learn how to play the guitar, he would find a way of succeeding.
His discography includes his two studio albums, the debut, “Ah y Qué?” released in 2020, and his second effort, Efectos Secundarios in 2021. His music started receiving a lot of attention, and he started doing industry leading things like his single “Por Las Noches” charting in the Billboard Hot 100 list as well as 4 other songs all at the same time and becoming the most streamed artist in Mexico on Spotify, taking over from the likes of Bad Bunny.
In his short time as an artist, he has already collaborated with Marshmello, Becky G, and Nicki Nicole, and there are no signs of him stopping, especially with his 2022 single, El Belicón, featuring Raúl Vega, selling over 480,000 copies in the US and becoming certified 8x platinum, making it his biggest hit and best selling song.
It would seem that you cannot enter a Tik Tok without checking out people dancing to his music, which has further helped Pluma cement his status as one of the best Latin musicians around. With such dominance and an eager fanbase waiting to check him out, expect tickets to sell out way faster than expected. Luckily, you can snag a set right here and now before they sell out, so don't delay!!!
