Steve Solomon continues to prove that he's one of the most talented people to ever step foot on a stage! The voices and the dialogues that he generates between the characters are going to make you question whether he's really alone on stage. That magic is why he's still doing his one-man show, even after all of these years. My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm In Therapy is the original show that cemented Solomon as a household name. He promises, though, that for this 2024-2025 season, there are a few new wrinkles in the performance. If you've seen the show before, you'll be met with familiar lines and witty situations, but you might come across a new variation that goes with the times!
When Steve Solomon started presenting this one man show, therapy was kind of taboo still. He's also "exposing" in a sense two very traditional cultures, Italian and Jewish families. Perhaps today, the concept behind this play wouldn't be as groundbreaking. Yet new audiences that come across My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm In Therapy find it oddly familiar and laugh out loud funny. What else could you ask for out of a comedy show, after all? The funnest part about this experience is perhaps the scariest as well. You might relate to some of Steve Solomon's characters. He's always mentioned by the way that the dialogue is based on true events. The Solomon family gatherings get really interesting. The best thing that you can do to experience them is to come watch My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm In Therapy.
Usually, for plays and musicals, the advice to the audience is to find a seat a few rows back in the middle of the theater. This gives you a wider perspective of the entire event. With one-man shows, though, being closer to the stage may grant you the chance to see gestures and other elements that enrich your experience. The great thing about The Murat Theater is that your view of the stage is spectacular, even from the upper levels. If you want to have a good laugh to start the year, click the get tickets button and head to see My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm In Therapy on Saturday, January 11th.
