Indianapolis Ballet: The Nutcracker is an annual family holiday performance and tradition now entering its fifth season of the crew's career. The company has performed this masterpiece since its conception in 2006. The Tchaikovsky brilliance has become a classic in the performing arts theatre and has become an absolute crowd favorite over the years. The Tchaikovsky classic was inspired by the late and famous German author, E.T.A. Hoffman, of horror and fantasy. Tchaikovsky wrote some of the most popular concert and theatrical music in the current classical repertoire, including "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty." With the help of choreographer Marius Petipa and the talent of Lev Ivanov, they've set on bringing the story to life and one of the most intricate art forms of ballet.
