Murat Theatre at Old National Centre
One of the freshest faces in the corridos tumbados movement is coming to the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis on Friday, 21st June 2024. Fans of Mexican regional music will surely want to catch Gabito Ballesteros live! The kid from Cumpas Sonora has had a meteoric rise in the world of music. Today, alongside Natanel Cano and Peso Pluma, they are, without a doubt, the faces of Mexican regional music. In fact, Gabito will likely be playing the hit AMD live on stage. That’s the song that these three worked together to produce, and it’s arguably what Ballesteros is most known for.
That Friday, June 21st, date in Indianapolis, promises to be a full-blown Mexican party. One of the best things about this venue is that it gives everyone a chance to attend. At the time of writing, tickets are still available in all sections. If you want to splurge on front-row tickets in the pit area, Gabito Ballesteros is definitely worth it! There are also spots available at the back of the theater at very affordable prices. Click the get tickets button to reserve your place in this corrido fiesta.
Gabito Ballesteros is only 24, but he’s already cemented himself as one of the rising stars in his genre. Hard to think that it was already ten years ago when, as a 14-year-old, he started posting videos of himself singing cover songs on Facebook! Those videos are really what got him a foot in the door within the industry.
He kind of went dark, though, from 2015 until 2020 when he released the song El Rompecabezas alongside another of the golden boys of corridos tumbados Aldo Trujillo. Ballesteros was actually in school throughout that whole time and only returned to music two years before earning his degree in industrial engineering. Although he’s got some of the best lyrics in Mexican regional music, he still sings to love, loss, and pretty women, just like all the artists from the genre. Don’t expect anything too complex to sing along to on June 21st at the Murat Theater.
Ballesteros is not afraid to explore the different sounds and even themes that can be incorporated into Mexican regional music. One of his most popular singles is A Puro Dolor, a cover from Son By Four, which is more of a Salsa band. When the song reached Gabito, he did his best to mimic the traditional tunes of the track, using the tuba and the accordion. Fans have warmed up to these remixes from Ballesteros and other artists. This new-age Mexican regional music will surely have you dancing and singing along to the tracks on that Friday in June.
Gabito and Natanael Cano are very close in real life, not just as collaborators. That’s why they’ve put out a number of tracks together. As mentioned, probably one of the songs that’s going to get the best reaction from the crowd has to be AMD. From the start that smooth electric bass sound that has become synonymous with the song just sets a mood. You know that happens at the carne asada with the buddies, and it’s the same that’s going to happen with Gabito on stage at the Murat Theater. As mentioned, there’s a place for everyone at the Murat Theater. The dancing and screaming in the pit area is an experience all on its own. If you just want to make sure you get a chance to catch Gabito live, there’s no shame in looking for spots further behind.
