We’ve all watched and enjoyed “The Matrix”, “Terminator”, “Back To The Future”, “Finding Nemo”, and “The Da Vinci Code”, some sciency, some lesser, some of which you didn’t even know had science in them, but the question is, what did they get right, and what did they get wrong?
America’s foremost science educator, writer, astronomer, Hayden Planetarium director, and all-round nerd-legend, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, is waving the geek flag high, freely and proudly, and is coming to the Murat Theatre on 7 May 2025 with An Evening With Neil deGrasse Tyson: An Astrophysicist Goes To The Movies Part 3, an all-new science showcase discussing everything movies and in between – a total must-see for science buffs, movie-fanatics, curious ones, and those looking for some enlightening entertainment alike!
Tickets are priced to go from only $72 and are already selling like hot cakes, so don’t snooze – hit that ‘get tickets’ button now and snag up some premier seats before they’re all gone!
We don’t all comprehend quantum mechanics, the multiverse, or gravitational waves, but we do get curious, and we comprehend movies, so what better way to get excited about the possibilities brought about by scientific exploration, technology, engineering, and math than bringing together pop culture and science, and better yet, by experiencing all the smarts live, in person?
It’s almost like Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson wakes up in the morning thinking, “How can I bring science to the world today?” And the answer is – by making complex concepts accessible and entertaining to all. Whether you are interested (even just slightly) in the search for life in the universe, the bizarreness of astronomy, the cosmic perspective on civilization, or science and philosophy, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will make certain you understand everything just a little bit better. It’s humor meeting profound scientific insight, it’s charisma meeting difficult concepts, it’s amusement meeting education, and this spring, it’s the movies we have all come to love meeting real science.
American astrophysicist, author, and astronomer, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, with a wealth of knowledge gained from studies at Harvard University (BA), the University of Texas at Austin (MA), and Columbia University (MPhil, PhD) and post-doctoral studies at Princeton University, rose to international fame as hosts of the television show “NOVA ScienceNow” from 2006 and the weekly podcasts “StarTalk”. A spin-off with the same name started airing on National Geographic in 2015, while he acted as host for the television series “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage”. To date, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson wrote 19 books and 13 research publications and received multiple awards, including a Medal of Excellence from Columbia University, a NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the Douglas S. Morrow Public Outreach Award from the Space Foundation, the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, Starmus, and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word Album for “Astrophysics For People In A Hurry”, as well as no less than eight honors and 21 honorary doctorates.
