St. Paul and the Broken Bones are an eight-piece soulful outfit born out of Birmingham, Alabama. It consists of two founding members, Paul Janeway and Jesse Phillips, who met in the early 2000s. In 2012, the pair decided to work on a project at the Ol’ Elegante Studios as a last-ditch effort before moving onto other projects; however, realizing that the two had some serious chemistry between them, they decided to develop the act even further. Browan Lollar, Kevin Leon, Al Gamble, Allen Branstetter, Chad Fisher, and Amari Ansari were later added to the line-up to complete the group.

Their 2014 debut album, “Half the City,” was released into the wild and became a huge success, creating an unforgettable sound and landing them several gigs and several major festivals, including Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Coachella. Success was undeniable; the critics recognized this, and praise was soon given by some of the biggest names in the game, including SPIN, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and NPR. They’ve even shared the stage with the likes of Elton John and The Rolling Stones.

With each new project, their sound has evolved into something truly special, combining a genre bending sound that encompasses old school soul, funk, and disco. Their latest album is a true masterpiece. Paul Janeway, upon discovering the impending arrival of fatherhood, decided to pen his inner thoughts to his unborn baby girl. These messages became the background for St. Paul and the Broken Bones’ brand-new album, “Angels in Science Fiction,” which is also the reason for this tour. This stunning album takes the group's sound to a brand new level, adding funk and psychedelia to an already brilliant repertoire.

While their discography is indeed very good, to truly experience the band, you must watch them live. Their ability to draw huge crowds and maintain an incredible atmosphere is something very special, and you must be at the Murat Theatre on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, with the rest of all the genuine fans. It will be one of the best times of your life, and you will be the backdrop to memories that will last a lifetime. So don’t delay; grab your tickets right now.
